Reasons Why I Like Briggs & Stratton Lawn Mower Engines
Overall I am pretty decent at repairing lawn mowers; however, that is only with lawn mowers with Briggs & Stratton engines. I can’t fix or even deal with other brands of lawn mower engines. I am sure if I put my mind to it, I could; however, I have no interest in other brands of lawn mower engines as I have never had anything but bad luck dealing with them when they break. Don’t get me wrong, Briggs & Stratton engines will break too; however, the difference being is that I am usually able to fix those engines rather than others.

One thing that I should mention, and quite to my disappointment, is the fact that even Briggs & Stratton engines don’t seem to be made likey they were used to. Meaning, I remember having older lawn mowers where I could simply leave them out in the yard all winter and come spring time, flip them over to drain the old gas out and refuel it with new gas, crank it up and it would fire right away!
Today’s Briggs & Stratton engines aren’t like that. Heck, if you leave a new and simple push mower out in the rain for one night, you’re bound to have problems with the mower the next day. I can’t seem to put my finger on it as to what the problem is. Well, in many ways I can and its the quality if the engine parts.
Briggs & Stratton carbs are not made like they were many years ago. In fact, the whole insides of the engine are much different too. It’s really the same design overall, but the metal and moldings they use to build the engine cast are much cheaper grade. Same goes with the piston, values and rod.
Despite all this, still today, Briggs & Stratton engines do indeed still seem better than other brands of lawn mower engines.
